The following are descriptions of the current ministries at ANCC and the types of volunteer opportunities they offer.
A.N.C.C. - A New Circle of Children Ministry
The A.N.C.C. Ministry meets Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm while the boys’ and girls’ parents attend regular Wednesday Adult Bible study. These volunteers seek to win young souls for Jesus as they introduce the children (ages K-5 - 6th grade) to bible stories through arts and craft activities.
Patience, flexibility, a spirit of cooperation and a love of training children motivates these A.N.C.C. volunteers. This ministry needs secretaries and teachers for grades K-5, 1st - 3rd and 4th - 6th. A criminal background check is required in order to be assigned to this ministry.
The Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Ministry
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” Proverbs 24:3 ESV
The Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Ministry includes a special group of volunteers who regularly take care of the church building and the grounds to make sure that God’s house is more than presentable. Some of these talented volunteers are part of a “Fix-It Crew” who tackle special ad hoc maintenance projects. Other volunteers refresh and replenish the sanctuary and water and tend the plants. There are some special occasions when ANCC needs more than regular care and cleaning. These are the times when the congregation has given their time on a Saturday morning to perform a deep cleaning of the church.
Volunteers for this ministry are not afraid to get their hands dirty and take pride in the upkeep of the Lord’s house.
The Children’s Ministry
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
After Praise & Worship during the Sunday 10:00 am worship service, children are escorted by their parents to the conference room for discipleship and training in the Word of God. The volunteers in this ministry seek to win young souls for Jesus as they introduce the children (ages K-5 - 6th grade) to bible stories through arts and craft activities.
Patience, flexibility, a spirit of cooperation and a love of training children motivates these ANCC volunteers. This ministry needs secretaries and teachers for grades K-5, 1st - 3rd and 4th - 6th. A criminal background check is required in order to be assigned to this ministry.
The Coffee Fellowship Ministry
This ministry fosters good and wholesome communication and fellowship for members and attendees as they prepare for worship service. The ministry provides a light breakfast for members and attendees during the hour prior to Sunday worship service. During this time, the volunteers tune in to the current life challenges that people may be facing and offer encouragement and fellowship.
This ministry needs volunteers who are friendly and outgoing and have the time and a heart for people. Some experience with food service is desired but not necessary. A bit of muscle is needed for set-up and clean-up activities. Other opportunities exist including treasurer, secretary, and shoppers.
The Education & Leadership Ministry
The Education & Leadership Ministry provides a forum for the teaching and learning of Biblical principles. An environment exists wherein questions are posed and addressed. This ministry strives to coordinate the tenets of discipleship in the Word of God, with other sources, such as Sunday sermons and other discipleship sessions. The ministry seeks to identify and utilize tools of learning as we develop a vision that flows from our Savior. A further goal is to establish ways that we can pass on to future generations the necessary biblical principles through mentoring and connection with the local body of Christ. Input from the congregation as to the topic for discussion and instruction is encouraged. Leadership goals include seeking to put God’s plan into whatever process is thought best to serve the Church, members and society.
Instructors are needed for this ministry who have a working knowledge of the Bible. They should have the ability to prepare lesson plans or periods of instruction, lead discussions of relevant issues and impart knowledge. Knowledge of adult learning principles is desired, but not required. Instructors must be over 18 years of age and an ANCC Member.
The Executive Administrative Office Ministry
Vital to the operations, the Executive Administrative Office Ministry is headed by the Executive Administrator who works closely with the Pastor, the Board of Directors and the Ministry Leaders to manage the day-to-day running of the church.
The current paid staff reports to the Executive Administrator. They include the Finance Department and the Maintenance staff.
Volunteers needed to work in the Executive Administrative Office include front desk receptionists, fix-it crews, communications team members, and project team leaders.
A good volunteer for the Administrative Office Ministry would be a “people person” who pays attention to detail and has some computer and office skills.
The Greeters Ministry
The Greeters are ANCC ambassadors during church events and serve a key role in setting a welcoming tone as the doorkeepers of the house of God. As they serve with humility, their goal is to see everyone as a holy encounter and encourage everyone to engage in worship and return to ANCC again and again.
Male and female ANCC members who are kindly and able to display brotherly love are encouraged to join this ministry. Since there is no age requirement, this is a training opportunity in which our young members can participate.
The Health Ministry
ANCC cares about the health of our members and encourages activities that benefit the physical well-being of our members. Activities include health assessments, seminars and information about nutrition. Activities relating to the Health Ministry are currently under the umbrella of the Women’s Ministry.
The Helping Hands Ministry
The Helping Hands Ministry undergirds all the other ministries by coordinating their needs during events at ANCC. The Helping Hands ministry assists in coordinating various church events, repasses after funerals, and other events that are conducted on ANCC property. Their valuable assistance includes event planning, providing equipment and workers, getting donations and setting menus. In the event of family loss, Helping Hands provides spiritual support to the family throughout the process.
Helping Hands needs workers for event planning, set up, clean up, disassembly, dish washers and dryers, food prep, shoppers and food servers. For some positions, there is no age or ANCC membership requirement. Helping Hands offers an opportunity to mentor the youth in the church.
The Men’s Ministry
Each month the Men’s Ministry offers unique events for men whose goal is to build a relational network of men supporting one another to be better husbands, fathers and citizens. The programs serve as encouragement for our men to study, walk by faith and walk in the Spirit of God to become obedient followers of Christ through fellowship, discipleship and service.
1 Peter 1:22-23 (KJV)
22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Leaders of the Men’s Ministry must be saved and have a good understanding of scripture and the precepts of God’s Word. The Men’s Ministry Leaders should have spiritual maturity and patience with men and others. They should have a heart to see men persevere in their walk with the Lord. Men of all ages are encouraged to participate.
The Music Ministry
The Music Ministry leads the congregation in praise and worship and enhances the Sunday worship service with music, encouragement and the pageantry of the praise dancers and the flag team. The Music Ministry includes musicians, singers, dancers, and sound board and visual technicians. Besides Sunday morning rehearsal, there is also Thursday evening rehearsal and the expectation that individuals will access the weekly Online Planner to download the songs and practice before rehearsal.
Members of this ministry may be asked to audition to demonstrate their skills.
The Nursery Ministry
The Nursery is open during the 10:00 am Sunday Service for infants through 36 months. They hear the Word and receive God’s love through caring workers.
Patience, energy and the love and care of babies motivates these ANCC volunteers. A criminal background check is required in order to be assigned to this ministry.
The Prayer Ministry
“Let All Nations be known as a house of prayer.” Pastor Harry Schmidt
Prayer is the principal foundation on which all the other ANCC ministries are built.
The Corporate Prayer Ministry is open to everyone who has a heart to pray for those on the Prayer Request List and for any other prayer needs. No skills are necessary to be a petitioner.
The Corporate Prayer Ministry meets at the church on Mondays from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesdays from noon to 1:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 11:00 am to noon. In addition, the congregation is encouraged to fast and pray from Tuesday 6:00 pm to Wednesday 6:00 pm.
Some prayer intercessors are available for emergency prayer by phone--24 hours a day. Contact the Executive Administrative Office for more details.
The Security Team
The Security Team is comprised of men and women who secure the church buildings and grounds and monitor the parking lots and entrances during all church events.
You must be a member over 18 years of age to join the security team and display patience and wisdom to handle potential problem situations. No certification is necessary.
The Sick & Shut-In Visitors
The Sick & Shut-In Visitors Ministry makes sure that our members are not forgotten in their time of need. The ministry teams of two or three visit members who are in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences. They read scriptures, pray for and with the afflicted, and may also administer the Lord’s Supper.
There are no special requirements for being a visitor except the possession of a God-given desire to minister to God’s people. This ministry provides an opportunity for our youth to be mentored in ministering to God’s people.
The Ushers Ministry
The Ushers Ministry team serves and greets worshippers and makes them feel welcome. The ushers direct and assist people to their seats. The ushers direct people to activities. They take up the offering collection and put it in the safe, accompanied by security. They deliver the offering prayer when asked. They move the communion tables into position and administer communion to the congregation. They wash the communion serve ware.
The Ushers Ministry Leader often recruits assistants from the congregation during the service, as needed. The leader must be aware of the church activity calendar in order to call ushers to serve. The ushers may be on call to serve during special church events.
Ushering requires the following personal qualities of both male and female ANCC members: responsible, patient, friendly, helpful, courteous, adaptable, alert and watchful. Since there is no age requirement, this is a training opportunity in which our young members can participate.
The Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry is a fellowship of ANCC women where they can grow in the knowledge, understanding and application of God’s Word. It is a place where women can be uplifted, strengthened, and learn from one another. The mission is to build discipleship and unity through intentional activities.
Programs are inclusive of women of all ages, Christ-centered, biblically-based and kingdom-oriented. Opportunities to serve include event planners and worship leaders.
The Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry targets young men and women from 7th through 12th grade. All youth are invited for a special Wednesday mid-week service designed for them. The programs are designed to help the youth discover how God’s Word will help them deal with real life issues.
Patience, flexibility, a spirit of cooperation and a love of mentoring youth motivates these ANCC volunteers. This ministry needs teachers and assistants who can relate to teens. A criminal background check is required in order to be assigned to this ministry.
